Sumoman  Add to game list
Rating of: 3/5

Janky and Humorous Platformer

Sumoman is a puzzle platformer with janky physics, difficult platforming, destructible objects, sushi roll collection, and the ability to reverse time (thank God). Trying to keep the morbidly obese Sumoman on his feet is the main feature of this game that sets it apart from other platformers.

Sumoman travels home from a sumo tournament to find everyone sleeping. Something is wrong, and Sumoma...

Blaster Master Zero II  Add to game list
Rating of: 3.5/5

A Fine Sequel That's Not as Good as the First

Blaster Master Zero 2 holds onto the great aspects of the first game in the series and even makes it easier to have fun but in the end the story along with the level implementation ends up making it feel like it's taking a step backwards.

Blaster Master Zero 2 is a sequel to Blaster Master Zero which debuted on Nintendo Switch in 2017. Blaster Master Zero is actually a reboot of the original ...

Destiny 2  Add to game list
Rating of: 4/5

Destiny 2: Ecclectic Boogaloo

While the MeltedJoystick crew often scoffs at the notion of MMOs, it is also a fact that some of our favorite co-op games are actually MMOs, from Defiance to Dragon Nest, our group is no stranger to the genre. While we skipped Destiny (mainly because it wasn't offered on PC), when Destiny 2 was offered for free and the DLC discounted, we figured, why not? Bungie, who honed their skills on the Hal...

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX  Add to game list
Rating of: 5/5

Zelda's First Handheld Game is Superb

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was Nintendo's first attempt at a handheld Zelda game and it's amazing even to this day.

Link's Awakening debuted for the original Game Boy in 1993. Then, it was re-released on Game Boy Color which upgraded it to a color version of the game with an added dungeon in 1998. That game's name is Link's Awakening DX. If you own a 3DS, you can the virtual cons...

Divinity: Original Sin  Add to game list
Rating of: 5/5

"Just Right"

While planning my review for Divinity: Original Sin (DOS), I couldn’t help thinking about the well-known fairy tale, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Yeah, I know it’s odd to be reminded of a bunch of bears and some blond child, considering the game is all about preventing the return of the Chaos Dragon, much more serious matters. However, it was particularly the bit of the fairy-tale where ...

Firewatch: Doesn’t rise too far above the smoke

Looking for a quick game to play in the little amounts of time available to me, I turned to Firewatch having heard on various podcasts rave reviews, specifically from tech pundits who also enjoyed gaming in their spare time. The time to play the game did not disappoint—I finished it in around 4 hours—, however the gameplay mechanics and some of the story elements left me somewhat desiring. ...

Mario Kart DS  Add to game list
Rating of: 3/5

Good game but fast to beat

This game is one of the better turn on and play DS game. Since the DS is modelled as a portable consol that you can take with you on the go, this game is the perfect one to use it with. Although on easy mode beating the game can be done in about 2 hours, challenging yourself is necessary to keep an interest in playing it for more than a few games. Besides that the graphics are fantastic and reall...

Killer is Dead - Nightmare Edition  Add to game list
Rating of: 3.5/5

Might Wanna Poke It With A Stick

Goichi Suda, or Suda51, is a name to recognize in the character action genre. While I myself have not played many, if any of his games, I still have at least heard positive things from titles such as No More Heroes, Shadows of the Damned, and Lollipop Chainsaw just to name a few. Though I must admit, when I first saw Killer Is Dead, I wasn’t too sure what to think. I recall possibly reading an...

Batman: Arkham Knight  Add to game list
Rating of: 4.5/5

Vehicular Man-severely-injure-but-NOT-slaughter

Did you like the previous Batman: Arkham *insert noun* games? Well then you can probably guess how you’ll feel about this one. Rocksteady’s magnum opus for the Caped Crusader does a good job of not fixing what isn’t broke, and also managing to find one or two new things in the Batman universe it hasn’t wrung for nostalgia to throw into a game.

Full disclosure: I’ve played Arkham As...
