EA Replay  Add to game list
Rating of: 3.5/5

Compilation of some of EA's megadrive titles that is a bit variable in its quality, but it's worth it for the main draws: namely the first three Road Rash games and Desert and Jungle Strike. The rest are a little hit and miss, but these five are worth the price alone.

Tomb Raider  Add to game list
Rating of: 4/5

The ground breaking 3D adventure may seem a little primitive in this day and age, but it was a watershed title for the PS1 and still contains some pleasurably laid back exploring and ledge-leaping for the nostalgic.

Super Stardust HD  Add to game list
Rating of: 3/5

A cross between asteroids and Robotron like the similar Geometry Wars with added polygons. And like Geometry Wars, it's okay fun in small doses but gets very, very samey.

Jotun  Add to game list
Rating of: 2/5

Four Hours Never Felt So Long

“Jotun” is the inaugural effort by Montreal, Canada-based Indie developer, Thunder Lotus Games. First announced in early 2015 and released later that same year, “Jotun” was the result of meager crowdfunding combined with an endowment from Canada’s government (a government that actually appreciates the arts, unlike ‘Murrica’s). When I first laid eyes on “Jotun,” I immediately wan...

Golf Story  Add to game list

A Fun Laid Back Golf RPG

Golf Story is a fun little adventure that merges retro style golf with RPG elements and after finishing the game I found myself wishing there was more.

If you've played a golf game on the original NES or pretty much any console golf game before the joystick era you'll know what to expect from this golf game. The game play is similar to that of Mario Golf and Hot Shots games of the past but it...

Tetris 99   Add to game list
Rating of: 3.5/5

A Tetris Battle Royale

Tetris 99 provides a lot of frantic and intense action and is most enjoyed in short bursts but lacks any real depth to be considered a complete game.

Nintendo's first attempt into the "Battle Royale" genre that has exploded a while back is this game, Tetris 99. It's available for free on Nintendo Switch if you have a Nintendo Online Subscription. When you start the game, a group of 99 player...

Grinding in Space

Way back in 1999, as a tender college undergrad, I first played “Armada” for the Sega Dreamcast, which I had received for Christmas during the year of the console’s launch. I never really cared much for SHMUPs in general, but at the time, I was in a mindset where I thought that in order to be a well-read (so to speak) gamer, I should have the best contemporary game from each genre in my col...

RiME  Add to game list
Rating of: 2.5/5

Oh, Look, an Indie Art Game!

“RiME” is the third game by Tequila Works, a Madrid, Spain-based Indie developer that previously made a critical splash with time-loop-murder-mystery, “The Sexy Brutale,” and prior to that produced a ‘Survival Platformer’ in “Deadlight.” With their third game, Tequila Works promised “exploration, puzzle-solving, secrets, and enchantment,” which, combined with the game’s visu...

The Dawn of Something Great

Exclusives have always driven fans of systems. Nintendo has Mario, Zelda and Kirby - SEGA has Sonic. While that ultimate rivalry might never be rivaled, Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony continue this tradition with the current generation of systems. In the last decade or so I have gravitated toward either Sony or PC, even as Nintendo has made a big resurgence. Sony offers me games I like - and their ...

Oxenfree  Add to game list

Tune In, Turn On - Far Out

Games don't always have to be huge to make an impact. Case in point, Oxenfree, created by the independent studio Night School - made up of both former Telltale and Disney employees - who turned this game into a hand-crafted, unique adventure. Each piece comes together - art, music, acting and story - to form a tale unlike anything else out there and proves that you don't have to rely on a multi-m...
