Although it can't top VI in my book, VII is still a great entry in the series and my #2 FF game. It's once again driven by memorable characters, a moving story and a strong soundtrack. It also represents a huge leap forward in game design. No, it's not the greatest game ever, not even the greatest FF, but it is an achievement. |

One of the most in depth games I have ever played. In 1998, I swapped game systems with my friend just so I could play this game. I didn't get very far into it so I bought it for computer. An amazing story, great music, and a cool turn based system. I will admit that I haven't played many other FF games, but this one is a ton of fun. |

Before anyone talks about Final Fantasy VII, I feel it's important to lay out what Final Fantasy games they had played and beaten before playing Final Fantasy VII. I personally had played Final Fantasy IV, Mystic Quest (if you count that one... yuck...) and Final Fantasy VI. Plus, some other Japanese RPGs, but we don't need to get into that.
What to say about this game... it's a mediocre game comprised of above average production values (sometimes) and some fun new gameplay ideas mixed in with some terrible gameplay ideas and awful random quirks.
Above average parts... um... well, the pre-rendered cutscenes were a treat to watch. Limit breaks added a fun wild card to battle that were great for turning the tide in a tough fight. The materia system added a lot of replay value to ... |
