Frey Holland is living an unassuming life in New York City when she finds herself transported - and trapped - in a fantastical, breathtaking and deadly world of Athia. With a magical, sentient bracelet wrapped around her arm, she discovers new magic powers in this world - a world once ruled by benevolent matriarchs but is now on the brink of being destroyed by an all-consuming blight. Frey finds herself immune to The Break and finds herself fighting for the remaining Athians - as well as searching for a way back home.
