On the night Sauron returns to Mordor, the Black Rangers who man the Black Gate are brutally executed. Ranger Talion watches as all he holds dear is taken from him... including his life. But the spirit of vengeance chooses him to enact bloody revenge - Talion awakens, and he will stop at nothing for his personal justice. The game introduces a Nemesis System - each encounter can provide a personal archenemy you will encounter throughout the game - and as Talion seeks vengeance, a story unfolds about the spirit who brought him back, the power of the One Ring and finding out who his true enemy really is.
