Not the greatest jump into 3D platform but still enjoyed it. The graphics were great for the time. The camera/.play control could use some work. Like many N64 games, I liked it.

"Castlevania 64"

Once again the developers decided to fix what wasn't broken and make Castlevania a 3D platformer. As a whole it works well; the graphics are good, it retains that Castlevania atmosphere and is generally enjoyable. The big issue is with sudden death leaps; 3D platform games were notoriously fiddly back then thanks to awkward controls and wayward camera angles and this game is no different. But in this case, a missed platform meant instant death and that's a no-no to anyone without an infinite amount of patience. Good, but not great thanks to this single fact.

Not As Bad As Most People Think

I know a lot of people are not of fan of this one because it just isn't like the 2D Castlevania games. Now, if you can get use to the play control (which can be hard), I think you can have some fun with this one. I like how you handle a whip, and the castle is dark and the music is solid. I remember fighting the werewolf and getting goosebumps....that does not happen often for me in games. Fighting Dracula was a lot like the 2D verstions. I enjoyed searching the special items and thought this was a pretty good game to play.
