A fun concept combining Mario with an RPG system - it also had some cheeky humor to go along with the story. If you're tired of the same old platforming (2D or 3D) this is a nice, fun break from tradition, and one that works remarkably well.

A RPG That Doesn't Take Itself Too Seriously

Super Mario RPG is a turn based role playing game that has a charming story and contains elements from Mario's normal platforming roots which make it a great game that doesn't take itself too seriously.

When I finally got around to playing this game, more than 20 years had passed since it's release. While some elements of the game have definitely shown it's age, that doesn't mean this game isn't still an enjoyable experience with a unique feel. For example, most SNES games use the 16 bits on a 2D approach but this RPG doesn't do that or even the normal top-down approach most RPGs in that day did. It created a 3D environment by tilting the world 45 degrees. While it's not 3D by any means, it has a 3D feel. And while the graphics aren't great, it works and it still holds up reasonab...
