Cute and colourful platformer that's the original and still the best of the Sonic games.

I was never a huge Sega fan, but even I played Sonic. While it looked quite a bit better, I never got behind this as much as Mario. I understand the guy is supposed to be fast, but half the time I didn't know where to look... and then I ran into some spikes or an enemy and died or lost my rings... then died. Fun but oh so infuriating.

Classic for the Genesis

I love Sonic games, and this is the one that started it all. The speed, bright graphics, quirky enemies, and playful music hooked me immediately. However, after replaying this game recently I realized compared to its successors its extremely short. There are also quite a few instant-death moments (probably the most frustrating of which is at the last boss).
