Old Man's Journey   PC (Steam)

Alzheimer’s Simulator    3/5 stars

Old Man's Journey is an artistic adventure puzzle game where you are introduced to an old man who receives a letter, prompting him to go on a journey through the countryside. Your goal is to help the old man navigate to his destination and remember memories of his past. He needs help! Manipulate the environment, the puzzle aspect, so he can find a way through. Along the way you use the power of benches, the only way to treat the onset of his Alzheimer’s disease. The old man loves benches, to not only rest, but to reminisce and dredge up old memories. Be aware that sometimes he needs additional help! Explore the environment with your cursor to help give him clues. Once he remembers, enjoy a snapshot of his memory, and the build up to what happens once he arrives at his destination.

Presentation
This game is well done, an artistic game with beautiful landscapes and colors.

Gameplay
Simple, but unique landscape manipulation mechanic to solve puzzles to navigate the old man through his journey. It was easy to pick up on what you needed to do, and none of the puzzles were overly difficult, allowing for enjoyable gameplay.

Originality
The unique landscape manipulation mechanic as well as artistic graphics gives this game lots of originality, resulting in very casual game play. The game isn’t very long, only about one and half hours, which is good, because by that time the puzzle mechanic get repetitive and a little boring.

Replay Value
There really is no replay value. Once you navigate the old man and complete his journey, you know the story’s end, as well as all the solutions to the puzzles.

Recommendation
If you need a short, casual game to play, you can get one and half hours of enjoyment out of the unique landscape altering mechanic.
