Dated, but still fun

I enjoyed this game for the ability to upgrade weapons and buy supplies. A lot of games (i.e. contra) had better controls, but this one allowed you some choices so as to make the game appear not to be quite so linear (even though it was). Offering several modes with entirely different story lines, levels, bosses, etc. helps too. Overall, not a bad pick for the genesis.
