I laugh at Nintendo's pain. The world didn't need the DS, let along a 3D version with no exclusive games worth cracking an eyelid over. 07/28/2011

I also can't say I'm at all shocked by this news. I still think 3D is a fad - even without needing glasses it's still a gimmick more than something to build an entire system around. At least it looks like it will be getting some stronger games, but I agree that the world did not need this handheld. 07/29/2011

Stronger games? LOL! It's getting ports and remakes and... a couple sequels. 07/29/2011

This is Nintendo - they've pretty much survived off of ports, remakes and sequels. There are always exceptions, but without Mario, Zelda and Metroid, where would they be? 08/01/2011

Sequels are fine, as long as they're good. However, there are only 2 sequels coming to the damned thing that interest me in the slightest ("Super Mario 3DS" and "Luigi's Mansion 2"). However, the Mario game looks pretty clunky in the previews, so that just leaves Luigi. Another ghost-catching adventure with him would be fine... if it was on the Wii and made use of the Wii controller to represent a Ghostbusters-style Proton Pack or something.

Where things get really ugly is the ports and remakes. The original games were not designed with portability in mind, so they are an incredibly poor fit for a handheld system that gets 3 hours of battery life and requires you to hold it 14" from your face to see the 3D.

Plus, if I wanted to play these old games, I'd just fire up the original system or an emulator and enjoy them on my TV without having to jack around with a (still) overpriced handheld.

Well, it's not like I'm going to rush out and get a 3DS - I have a feeling it's going to die a slow, agonizing death. 08/04/2011
