For the long-awaited sequel to the ground breaking Doom, Id went in a different direction and created a hugely atmospheric survival horror/FPS hybrid which disappointed those who wanted more trigger-happy blasting action. But objectively Doom 3 is a brilliantly designed and great looking game that often genuinely makes you jump thanks to the ingenious inclusion of the fact that you cannot carry a torch and a gun at the same time; when you explore the darkened corridors you are either going in blind or completely unarmed making for hugely tense affair. The BFG edition for the Xbox 360 adds HD graphics, the expansion pack missions and the original Doom & Doom 2 which makes that the far better purchase though. |
