Aloy has lived a sheltered life, but the hunter and archer is about to find out what the world really holds. The future is lush with beautiful forests, grand mountains and clear rivers. But the future is also filled with dangerous machines - machines that now roam and seemingly control this vast world. The machines have the advantage, but Aloy has the speed and intelligence to take them down. She will explore this world, the surviving factions, ancient relics and mysterious buildings to find out how this world came to be - and if there is any way to change it.

"Horizon: Zero Dawn"

Drawing inspiration from the open world fantasies of Elder Scrolls, the hunter-gathering of Red Dead, Assassin's Creed-style wall clambering and Batman's investigative skills, Horizon Zero Dawn certainly wears its influences on its sleeve. But it manages to blend these elements seamlessly into a fantasy sci-fi hybrid with an engaging story and interesting open world environment. And best of all, it actually feels like it was designed as a single player experience instead of one of the endless pseudo-multiplayers on the PS4.

The Dawn of Something Great

Exclusives have always driven fans of systems. Nintendo has Mario, Zelda and Kirby - SEGA has Sonic. While that ultimate rivalry might never be rivaled, Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony continue this tradition with the current generation of systems. In the last decade or so I have gravitated toward either Sony or PC, even as Nintendo has made a big resurgence. Sony offers me games I like - and their exclusives match my style. Horizon: Zero Dawn was one of the first, big games to show off the flashy new system. And while I took my sweet time getting to it - waiting for a complete version at reasonable price (too used to Steam mentality), I have to say the wait was worth it. This game sits right alongside The Last of Us as a compelling reason that Sony still deserves my full support.
