Synopsis:

The classic city building and management sim gets a reboot with all new 3D graphics, direct interactions with your citizens, dynamic in-game units that replaces the old animation style and a franchise first multiplayer element. The GlassBox technology allows for total control: follow the individual life of a citizen, manage an entire city or run multiple city simulations at once. The city is yours to create - build an environmental utopia, a gritty urban landscape or a flashy casino resort hub - if you can imagine it, you can create it.

Apparently they learned nothing from Diablo III or else they planned for it and still failed miserably. In any case, to quote one Dr. House: EA... "You're an idiot."

To any future companies looking to make a game that requires you to be connected online at all times: if you think your servers are good enough - quadruple whatever you think just to be safe. It still might not work, but hey, you can avoid angering the might of the internet and digging yourself deeper into a hole by proclaiming how many people you are truly screwing over because you are so damn popular.

You know what drives me nuts?

Every time someone from EA gets marched in front of the press to fall on their sword about how always-on internet has ruined this game's launch they always take time to squeeze in some version of...

"Man...we just didn't think the game would be THIS popular!  We just weren't prepared for all the people WHO WANT OUR GAME!  SO MANY PEOPLE WANT TO BUY THIS GAME, IT'S INSANE!"

I realize that's how PR works, it's their job to spin stuff like this.  But still... it just makes my skin crawl that you don't get to punch them when they try and sell THAT as the problem with SimCity's constant internet connection.
