Just as frustrating as its NES counterpart but now with better graphics! Once again you run around like mad, hoping not to lose your precious armor, and if you're lucky you might make it all the way to the third level! You must be a masochist to like this game.

"Super Ghouls & Ghosts"

The notoriously hard-as-nails platform game comes to the SNES with a makeover, and it is both visually and sonically very nice indeed. It's just as monstrously hard as its predecessor, although deaths feel downright unfair sometimes in a way they never really did in the original. On the other hand, the torch is not quite as catastrophically useless and the chests are far more likely to return your armour than turn you into a duck. Not quite as good as the Genesis G&G, but it's a great looking and challenging platform game although the easily frustrated may be put off by its unforgiving difficulty level.

Fun For Some, Frustrating for All

This game was a guilty pleasure of mine. One of the more difficult and frustrating games I've ever played (as evidenced by the destruction of a couple controllers), it was still a lot of fun. You play a knight who must hack and slash his way through endless demons and ghouls, fields of lava, and bottomless pits. One hit and you lose your armor (which usually neuters your weapon). The second hit kills you. The bosses are great and the music fantastic. The most frustrating part of this game? When I found out in order to beat it I had to complete it twice (the second time using a completely useless weapon).
