Good Mario Substitute for the Genesis

Another one of those games I love to hate. One of the most difficult games I've ever played due to its enormous amount of levels and extreme difficult of gameplay. However its quite fun (at least for the first few hours). You are a kid who enters a virtual reality game that has gone amok. You can dawn various suits and masks to give yourself different abilities and powers. The game is somewhat similar to mario, except much longer and far more difficult. It usually takes me about 8 hours to reach the final levels (if I can), and its nearly impossible to reach the last boss without knowing where the necessary warp-points are.
