I hate to revive a dead topic but are you doing a poll for this year? |

The poll doesn't have a link in the site's navigation, but it does exist!
Here is the link to see the poll and vote.

I created a poll for GotY for users to voice their opinions. It will appear on 1-20 and last until 2-20. I also added Portal 2 to the list of nominees. |

I haven't checked to see if the stats on the bug have changed or not, but it was affecting about 1/3 of PS3 users at the time. To the best of knowledge the bug hasn't been fixed yet either, and may never be, because the issue is deep in the game's engine. If they had fixed the bug I may give it more credit, but the fact that they can't or won't (whichever it really is) gives me reason not to ever vote it best game of the year. From the games that I have seen or played from 2011, my vote would be for LBP2. |

Ah ah - but if you read his conversation, he also said he wasn't voting for Skyrim because it was buggy. But since I've now blown past the supposed mark and haven't had any issues, maybe he'll change his mind. Alex can cast a vote of no-confidence on himself if he feels he can't choose a game. |

Alex should probably recuse himself from the vote considering his complete lack of experience with anything made in the last 15 years.
Nick already cast his vote earlier in the conversation. |

At a 100+ hours in and still no major bugs, I'm officially casting my vote for Skyrim. If we're doing a staff vote, Nick and Alex both need to officially cast their ballot (and No, Alex, you cannot vote for WinBack). |

Well, I'm officially withdrawing my nominations for both Skyward Sword and Xenoblade.
Are we going to have an official vote among the MJ staff or something?
My vote is for LBP2. Nick's will probably be for LBP2. Chris' will be for Skyrim.
So LBP2 wins the MJ GotY? I guess? |

I haven't run into any "fun" or any game-ending bugs as of yet. Every hour I play apparently is driving me toward a frame rate issue, but even if it does, it doesn't cancel out the sheer enjoyment I've already got out of the game. Unless I hit an Oblivion game-ending bug (which is, in all probability, entirely possible) I won't back down from my ranking. |

Hey, I agree. A game that crashes all the time just isn't fun to play.
But all those bugs somehow are getting filed under the same category as flying mammoths and floating NPCs. Just look at the average scores. 90% of "professional" reviewers are saying "Yeah this game has bugs, but...." and then proceeds to not actually hold the bugs against the game, somehow. Even if they make the game hard to play, somehow they get treated the same way as quirky little clipping glitches.
Bethesda has worn down the industry, and that's all that matters. |
