Well, everything is back up and running on PSN (though you will most likely get a bunch of errors due to the overwhelming amount of traffic the PSN servers are getting).
The Welcome Back package of free games is available too. I got Stardust and Wipeout. The option for the month of free PSN+ is available too, as is a custom PS3 theme (which is unfortunately too busy-looking to use without going blind/insane).
Everyone needs to get on it and download their freebees before Sony gets hacked again! |

Sony's choices of free games is pretty lame. I already have LBP, I wouldn't play inFamous or Dead Nation... ever, so I guess I'm stuck with a SHMUP (not my favorite genre) and some kind of weird racing thing.
Thanks, Sony! I feel so much better about your lax security now! |

You also get 30 days worth of Playstation Plus if you so want!
The list of free games:
InFamous - Recommended if you don't have - great sandbox game with high replay value for good and evil choices.
LittleBigPlanet - Also highly recommended if you don't have - even though there's already a sequel, the original is one of the most innovative and fun titles for the PS3.
Dead Nation - Don't know much about this game, but it has zombies and lots of killing, so that's enough for me.
Wipeout HD + Fury - For driving fans, here you go.
Super Stardust HD - SCHMUP action.
I'm probably going with Dead Nation and Super Stardust HD (I already have InFamous and LBP and racing isn't my thing anymore).
PSP users also get to choose from four free games:
LittleBigPlanet (see above)
ModNation Racers - If it's anything like the PS3 version it's a great multiplayer experience but the one-player mode can be frustratingly difficult.
Pursuit Force
Killzone Liberation

Chris says when the store is back up, PSN users will get 1 or 2 free games to download?
If so, what should I get? Chris says infamous should be on my list. |

Well, it's partially back up, now. Everyone needs to log-in, get the firmware update (*sigh*), then change their password.
Just don't plan on buying anything, as the Store is still unavailable. |

You're fortunate that Netflix still works for you. I've seen plenty of people on other sites saying that it has recently given up the ghost for them.
It was really idiotic for Netflix to allow their service to be tied-into PSN in the first place! Netflix on Wii is completely stand-alone. |

As the Rolling Stones so aptly put it: "Hey you, get off of my Cloud!" Honestly, I'm just glad I can still get on Netflix, however, I better be able to access DLC eventually. The trophy thing really doesn't bother me (much). |

I know I should be angry about Sony's lax security and potential for credit card fraud...
...but I can't help but delight in how much this experience is opening eyes to the flaws and inconvenience associated with "The Cloud."
Just this week I've finally started seeing more people railing against The Cloud in forums than pushing for more Cloud integration.
Remember kids: If you don't have a physical copy, you don't really own it.
Also: If you need access to it, store it yourself.
That is all. |
