Synopsis:
Bethesda reinvents the open-world survival genre again with their most ambitious effort yet in Fallout 4. As the lone survivor of Vault 111, you emerge to a world devastated by nuclear war. You will visit familiar areas in and around the Boston area, but this Wasteland is much different - where raiders and creatures present challenges. But you will survive - and in Fallout 4 - you will create. From food to weapons to entire communities - it is up to you to shape the Wasteland. Support of destroy factions, use VATS (a new, dynamic Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System) to take down enemies and take advantage of the new ability tree to shape your character the way you want - and, for the first time, you can play a female survivor.

"Fallout 4" |
One of the original sandbox FPS RPGs, Fallout is starting to show its age a little. The graphics are not really up to scratch by PS4 standards, looking more like a PS3 game with a lick of paint and the narrative structure is not quite strong enough. You seem to spend too much time picking over the scenery looking for junk for the over-complicated crafting system and getting killed by random baddies who have nothing to do with the ongoing story, which actually discourages exploration. Not a bad game certainly, but the likes of Horizon: Zero Dawn have surpassed it in pretty much every department. |

It's the Apocalypse All Over Again |
War. War never changes. The mantra of the Fallout series continues as Fallout 4 provides much of the same elements that began with Fallout 3 and continued with New Vegas. Some things have changed, but, for the most part, Bethesda plays it safe, giving open-world fans more of what they like but not being nearly as innovative as they think. If you enjoyed the previous two Fallout games, you will most likely enjoy this one but make not mistake, the game is far from perfect.
Presentation: Let's be frank, the Fallout series has never been known for its stellar graphics. Fallout 4 is no exception with enough popping and such going on that even in this next-generation, just doesn't look spectacular. Granted, the facial animation has gotten better - as have the details - but this isn't ever go... |
