I saw this article earlier this week and two things came to mind:

1. I wish I had written it.
2. Why is an article this insightful on a parody/joke site?

I think the articles' reasons #3, #4, and #5 are the biggest culprits. The others, while still valid, don't seem nearly as dangerous as those three.

Actually, it looks like they have a bunch of articles that are insightful and entertaining. I remember Cracked when it was a rival to Mad Magazine - now it appears it's more of a rival to The Onion (AV Club).

And I agree - the article in question raises many valid points about the current state and future of gaming. There's only so far technology can take us and sequels and reinvention can only go so far.

My vote for funniest comment in the story: When you buy her an in-game bikini, the FBI automatically logs you in their serial killer database.

I remember Cracked Magazine as a rival to Mad as well, which is why I can't believe they actually have some good articles now. Chris would always bring those magazines over to my house... I thought they smelled like slightly-used toilet paper... which matched the content perfectly.

These articles Jon is linking aren't Onion-like at all. The Onion gets by publishing entirely fake, usually stupid, faux-news articles.

Yeah, Cracked is getting to the heart of a few truths in about games right now, and I wish I could make sure the right people are reading those articles.  A lot of these are really funny... but sad that they needed to be written.  It's like a Daily Show or Colbert Report... using humor to speak their mind about something that's actually happening.

Also, reading some of the other articles I found around the site is further cementing Cracked as part of my regular internet patrol.  There's some funny stuff in there.
