Indeed, White wonder. Launching a console for that much and having NO GAEMZ! to go with it is truly, incredibly stupid.
Of course, MS launching the 360 at $400 wasn't much better.
Oh well, though, it just gives us more reasons to buy used! |

Well, my point was based more on the fact that the amout of "game" that we can squeeze out of the hardware we've already got is holding up well, even 5-6 years after launch.
So why not ditch the whole "CRAZY EXTREME CPU POWER blah blah blah" theme of every console launch since the Super Nintendo?
Nintendo started us down the path of less focus on raw hardware with the Wii. Though&nb sp;the hardware is showing its age, I think the business model they used may become more of a trend in the next generations as the graphic improvement between generations becomes less and less obvious. |

Yes, I don't feel like throwing down another $600 just so I can see beard stubble a little better on my character. I would have gladly stuck to the Wii as my system of choice if the govt. hadn't kindly stimulated the economy and give me disposable income. Still, with the Kinect doing well and the 3DS showing early promise, I'm guessing we have a few years left before any big announcements, and I'm all for that. |

You lie, Chris. No way would you be happy with Wii and its lack of samey FPSes and survivor horror schlock. |

Well, look at it this way, without the extra money, I never would have paid attention to the samey FPSs and survivor horror schlock in the first place. Hey - if you didn't see I'm actually playing a Wii game currently - even if it's one you probably think is horrible. |

Sega made the problem with good hardware with the Saturn, a system is made by its games not hardware. |

@ Chris: Money is the root of all evil.
@ White wonder: I thought the 360 launch lineup was crap too, and the current 360 lineup only holds 3 games that interest me: Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and Shadow Complex.
I'm also unclear on your last comment about the Saturn. It had odd hardware and a pretty small library, but it had some of the greatest games of that generation. Dragon Force, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Legend of Oasis, NiGHTs... definitely not a bad console. Too bad everyone ignored it after the SegaCD/32X debacle. |
