do you think that sega should go back in the console market? With the dreamcast 2 I do that would be awesome a lot of the people who made the original xbox made the dreamcast they were former sega employees and thats why the xbox original resembled the Dreamcast so much. I know that sega is a third party company and little money but the dreamcast was way ahead of its time they should give it a try don't you think it would make sense they still make arcade boards. Why not a console I want to hear your guys opinion. 03/15/2011

To be honest i was never a Sega man. I did have a Dreamcast for a while, but most of the games were not made for me. They lacked any really fun games and just couldn't hack it when XBOX came out. XBOX and PS3 are the same to me anyone with mostly the same games. If Sega produced a system that is like the wii or maybe a browser based game system that allowed you to play games through the web onto your tv easily, that might rock. 03/15/2011

No. Unless you're talking about streaming 20-year-old ROMs, the US just doesn't have the broadband infrastructure to make that viable outside of megatropolises. Plus, you'd never really 'own' the games.

If you want to try this kind of gaming for yourself, there's a 'console' called Onlive that allows subscribers to stream PC games that are played on remote uber-machines.

I think they could do it if they would reinvest in there money and reboot there campaign for the console market  i love sega with a passion Xbox and Sega are my favorite companies they need to they still make decent games but not bang up games  like they used to sonic is still fun but its not the same i still play my sonic 2 for my genesis and i love it that is fun they need to would it not only give them more money but would bring back life long hard core sega fans like my self i was raised with sega and like to see another one they could Could you imagine a shenmue 3 or a new Quake game for it or new Sega Gt or New Jet Set game but the online would be awesome i would play NFL 2K1 on it online at my relatives and it was fun no lag Until someone called it was like the PS3 of the 90's as much as i hate sony and Playstation in general it reminds me of it and because i was raised on the sega i love xbox they so closely resemble each other its funny and it would be awesome if they did make a new one shoot they still make arcade boards why not new consoles? 03/17/2011

The Onlive is a good idea... depending on the game you're playing.  Playing a game like Dragon Age II may work because you don't need super-twitch gamer skills to play it.

But try playing a game like Smash Bros or Call of Duty when the latency between you and your own character is 80 ms.  The hardcore gamer would never stand for it.

If Onlive finds the right audience and the right library, they can make a living.  People have proven there's a market for browser-based gaming.  But if they want to go toe-to-toe with a conventional console on their own turf they'll get whipped.

And as far as the original topic, I doubt that Sega has the capital right now to leverage the R & D needed for a new console.  Plus, it's getting crowded already... they'd have to wait before one of the big 3 disappeared before even thinking about making a play back into the ring.  Which would be aided by the disappearance of say, Nintendo, because they could try and land all those first-party titles from the dead console on their new system.  Boom, instant fanbase. 03/17/2011
