Synopsis:

Afghanistan, 1984, the Cold War is in full force as Soviet forces invade the country. Snake is a ghost and a legend - a famous mercenary all but erased from the history books after being betrayed by American private intelligence network Cipher. But Snake is not alone - Ocelot is with him, and helps him to track down his former partner Kazuhira Miller, who is being held in Afghanistan. But saving her opens to door to vengeance against Cipher - a one-man war that will have far-reaching implications. This new open-world Metal Gear provides a much deeper stealth option, with real-time passage of time and weather. Strategic freedom, resources and expanding your home base - it's a new breed of Metal Gear. Metal Gear Online returns as well.

"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain"

I've never been that big a fan of the Metal Gear Solid series - I found the controls clumsy, the one-false-move-and-you're-dead trial and error formula exasperating and seemed to spend more time watching the games than actually playing them. This is still true of certain sections of MGS V but the more open world approach eliminates the worst of it, creating a sort of stealth version of Red Dead that makes for easily the best instalment in the franchise.
